Dear Brother-in-Christ, Metropolitan Abraham,
I write on behalf of the Synod of the British Orthodox Church to express our profound sympathy with the Georgian people at the recent invasion of Georgia by the Russian military. We wholeheartedly support His Holiness Catholicos-Patriarch Iliya of All Georgia in his calls for peace.
We condemn this unprovoked aggression and the tragic loss of life resulting from it. Russia's imperialism and disregard for the sovereignty of Georgia is a threat to all free and peace-loving nations and we will press the British government to refuse to recognise the illegal annexation of Georgian territory.
Please be assured of our prayers and concern for the welfare and security of all Georgian people.
