Death of Abba Marcos of France
Abba Seraphim has issued the following statement:
"Yesterday I received the sad news of the death on Sunday, 11 May of my dear brother in Christ Metropolitan Marcos of the Eglise Copte Orthodoxe Francaise. He was consecrated a bishop of the Coptic Church in 1974 and twenty years later we were ordained as Metropolitans together in Cairo. As our sister jurisdiction in Western Europe we co-operated fully in every way and remained in close touch over many common concerns. He will be greatly missed. I have sent my condolences to his associate, Bishop Athanasius, and also assured him of the prayers of all British Orthodox congregations for the repose of Abba Marcos and for the clergy and people of his jurisdiction. + Seraphim" |
