Attack on monastery in El Minya province
Reports are coming in of a serious attack by Islamic extremists on a monastery in El Minya province in Upper Egypt where some monks have been kidnapped and others seriously injured. Both Coptic and Islamic demonstrators are said to be active but reports as yet are still garbled and nothing is available in English. Pope Shenouda is in USA at the moment with his principal secretaries but expected back in Cairo on Wednesday.
